Global Facility Solutions’ Energy Report indicates nearly $20K in cost savings and a 20% reduction in energy usage at Alexandria, VA facility
Mt. Airy, MD – September 7, 2010 – Global Facility Solutions (GFS) released the results of its system performance and savings validation for Oekos Management today posting $19,872 in utility savings and a 20% reduction in electricity usage over the last seven months at the company’s commercial office building in Alexandria, VA.
Following a sudden 57% increase in electricity consumption, Oekos Management turned to GFS to improve building operations and reduce utility expenditures. The Energy Report is part of GFS’ ongoing performance review at the 57,000 SF facility, validating results of the improved energy management system and other building improvements implemented last year.
“The system and design was top notch,” says Mike Janes, building manager, “far more energy efficient than what we previously had in the building. The savings we experienced were noticed almost immediately upon the systems completion and we continue to see them today, even after a record breaking summer!”
As part of the project, GFS upgraded the existing energy management system including programming revisions and developed energy saving retrofit recommendations that reduced operation/energy consumption and increased cost savings.
“The final retro-commissioning project and installation returned the monthly electricity costs to 2006 levels despite the 27% increase of electricity costs over the last three years,” says Robert K. Calloway, P.E, president. “We can also remotely access the building systems today to diagnose issues with temperatures and reduce response time for correcting issues at the building that impact comfort and energy costs.”
